Dean David Wang'ombe Mentors Case Writing in Nepal

Dr. David Wang'ombe, Dean School of Management and Commerce, was in Kathmandu, Nepal, to deliver a case writing workshop to the faculty of Senior Administrative Staff College (School of Government). The course was a training of trainers for the Senior Executive Development Program (SEDP) that targets the senior most government officers of the Republic of Nepal.  The program is funded by Adam Smith International and organised by the Centre for Inclusive Growth (CIG).  The workshop was part of the mentoring process that Dr. Wang'ombe has been providing to the faculty for the last six months.  The staff are working on 6 cases, which will be used for teaching public policy for government bureaucrats in Nepal.

 

‘Case teaching and writing is a much needed skill for all course facilitators and especially for teaching executives. With case writing, lecturers are able to capture relevant from their local environment hence connect more with their students in the classroom' Dr. Wang'ombe said. Dr. Wang’ombe is an internationally renowned case teacher and mentor who has facilitated in faculty development courses in the country and on the continent.

 

Dr. Wang'ombe is an alumnus of the International Faculty Program (IFP) of IESE Business School (2008) and Teaching the Practice of Management (TPM) of the IFC/AABS. He has also conducted research and consultancy assignments for the IFC, Government of Kenya, and several private companies. He has also written several cases for teaching particularly business executives. Dr. Wang'ombe has extensively used case methodology for executive training in many different countries including South Africa, Ghana, Rwanda, Uganda, Ethiopia and Kenya.
