Dean to lead continental program for teaching cases

Mr David Wangombe, the Dean of School of Management and Commerce is the new manager of the Teaching Practice of Management programme.

Mr Wangombe was chosen to lead TPM at its 7th session (TPM 7) held at the University of Pretoria’s Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) in South Africa from 7th to 14th July 2011.


TPM is run by AABS - the Association of African Business Schools. Strathmore was chosen to be the venue for the next TPM programme (TPM 8) in 2012.


Mr Wangombe and Prof Ruth Kiraka, the Dean of the School of Graduate Studies were part of the faculty that demonstrated how to teach using cases at TPM 7.


The two are alumni of the TPM programme and are champions of teaching using cases. Prof Kiraka demonstrated a case on management while Mr Wangombe demonstrated a case on Finance.


25 participants attended the TPM 7 program. The participants are all lecturers of business in universities in Africa.


Mr Wangombe took over as the manager of the TPM programme from Mr Jonathan Cook who has been the manager since its inception seven years ago.
